Master of Science in Information and Knowledge Management

ELIGIBILITY

  1. At least second class( upper division) honors degree from a recognized university OR
  2. Second class(Lower Division) honors degree in relevant disciplines with a postgraduate certificate and 1 year of relevant work experience OR
  3. Pass degree with a postgraduate certificate and 2 years of relevant work experience or 5 years of relevant work experience in information sciences, Library Science, information and Communication Technology, Knowledge Management, Computer Science, Communication and Media Studies, Journalism or Public Relations

DURATION
4 Semesters

AIM

The aims of this course include:

  1. Create a critical mass of high-level information and knowledge management professionals capable of steering the effective creation, capture, organisation, storage and use of essential information and knowledge for socioeconomic development in Kenya and beyond;
  2. Develop an adequate pool of candidates for doctoral and postdoctoral programmes in information and knowledge management in Kenya and abroad;
  3. Support the development, testing and implementation of theories, policies and best practices in information and knowledge management by providing research evidence through versatile research studies and scholarly engagement;
  4. Enhance the professionalization of information and knowledge management by producing highly qualified professionals for its ranks;
  5. Create and sustain visibility and a positive image of information and knowledge workers at the national, regional and international levels; and
  6. Support socioeconomic development of Kenya by developing the capacities of the graduates to create wealth.

Bachelor of Science Information Sciences

ELIGIBILITY
KCSE mean grade C+ (plus) and at least C+ in Kisw/Eng, Math, Group II/III and 2nd Group II/III or Group IV/V subjects

DURATION
10 Semesters

AIM
The aims of this course include:

  1. To build human resource capacity in information studies discipline in both the public and private sectors, especially in universities;
  2. To generate a pool of highly qualified candidates for post graduate Degree Programme;
  3. To develop professionals with theoretical and practical skills in the Information sector;
  4. To have acquired the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and skills, to work in the Information environment; and
  5. To develop necessary skills and exposure to enable grandaunts create self- employment in the information field.

 

Bachelor of Technology in Information Studies

ELIGIBILITY
3-year Diploma in Technology (Library and Information Technology or Diploma in Technology (Archives and Records Management) or Diploma in Information sciences

DURATION
5 Semesters

AIM
The aims of this course include:

  1. To build human resource capacity in information studies discipline in both the public and private sectors, especially in universities;
  2. To generate a pool of highly qualified candidates for post graduate Degree Programme;
  3. To develop professionals with theoretical and practical skills in the Information sector;

2. To generate a pool of highly qualified candidates to pursue graduate studies in the field of Information Studies
3. To address the increasing demand for information science training at bachelor’s degree level.
