Hi. My name is Christine Kanyangi. I work for the Judiciary as an Executive Officer at the Mombasa Law Courts. My current job entails allocating duties and supervising judiciary staff; addressing complaints from litigants and clients; ensuring court orders are processed; and ensuring that there is a healthy working environment in the court. As the head of the court registry and the custodian of court records, my work is also to ensure the safety and security of records.
I am a holder of a Bachelor of Technology in Information Studies from The Technical University of Kenya, Department of Information and Knowledge Management. This training has helped me to develop all the necessary skills that one needs to shoulder administration and planning roles in the Judiciary. Being a team leader in charge of staff, I am expected to be a good communicator, innovative leader, a critical thinker and an effective decision maker. Luckily for me, the course prepared me well to communicate effectively with different people; enhanced my capacity to think critically such that I can easily come up with new ideas that assist in quick delivery of justice; and above all I am also able to handle the challenges positively and come up with the best solutions for them.
Since I started working here, I have managed to develop systems that make it easier to file, retrieve and make follow up on case files. My relationship with people has improved a lot as we always learn from each other. Time management is also another important skill that I got from my mentors in the Department of Information and Knowledge Management. For this, I am forever indebted and grateful to my mentors at The Technical University of Kenya, Department of Information and Knowledge Management. This is definitely the place to be.
